At GangLivesMatter.com we believe that everybody is entitled to the right to heal without judgement or persecution. Unfortunately, there exist many barriers for members of the Black community to receive proper access to mental health resources such as therapy because of agendas to police and criminalize Black identities. On top of social and political barriers that exclude Black community members based on the abandonment of criminalized identities, there may also exist economic barriers that further restrict or reduce the ability of our community members to be able to pursue therapy in a professional setting. Even if these barriers are removed, there is still the cultural outcasting and abandonment of our identities which may make us feel unsafe to pursue healing that is connected to the power structure of our oppression. We made this journal so that even if you dont have the resources to be able to pursue healing in a professional setting, you can still begin to heal on your own. Not being able to talk about what you go through can be debilitating. With this journal you can start to end the isolation of abandonment of Black identities by giving yourself a safe and protected space of private expression, so that you are able to address and reflect on your trauma without judgement or persecution. Journaling is a significant resource of mental health that anyone can begin at any time because of its low-cost and it can be very helpful in being able to sort out your emotions. This is a great resource to introduce you into the world of healing and recovery. We hope that you are able to use this to bring peace and stability into your life.
